​

May we try a class first?

Absolutely, we strongly encourage new students to try a class before enrolling.

Please call the office (925.243.0925) to schedule your free trial.

 

Are there classes for adults?

Yes, Teens and Adults (ages 13 and beyond) may take our Adult class on Thursday evenings. All ages and all levels of skill are welcome.

 

Are there requirements for certain classes?

Although our classes have a suggested minimum age, all new students are evaluated by an instructor and placed in the class that best fits the students’ needs and abilities.

 

How many students do you have in class?

Discover Dance classes are no larger that 8 students.

Ballet A, B, and I are no larger than 10 students.

Ballet II, III, IV, V, and Adult class are typically 10-15 students.

 

What if I miss a class?

If a student misses a class, it should be made up as soon as possible. Students may take another class at their same level or one level below as a make-up.      

 

Are you able to accommodate my special needs child?

Possibly. Please discuss your child’s needs with the instructor.

 

How much is tuition?

Tuition is due the first day of each month.

There is no charge for classes that are missed when the studio is closed for a holiday.

In addition, we do not charge for Partnering Class or Rehearsals.

 

What kind of payment plans are available?

Tuition can be paid monthly without extra fees.

If you are in need of scholarship assistance or need to make alternate payment arrangements, please contact the office for more information.

 

What do students wear to class?

Discover Dance, Ballet A, and Ballet B   

Girls: black (preferred) or pink leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Girls should have their hair pulled back in a neat bun. Short hair should be held off  the face with a hair band or clips.

Boys: black shorts, white t-shirt, white socks, and black ballet shoes.

  

Ballet I through Company

Women: black tank style leotard, pink tights, and pink shoes. Women should have their hair pulled back in a neat bun.

Men: Black shorts, white t-shirt, white socks, and black ballet shoes.

 

Adult Class

Adults may wear comfortable clothes that make it easy to move. Leather ballet slippers are required.

 

Are there opportunities to perform?

Each December, The Valley Dance Theatre presents a full length production of The Nutcracker. All students in Ballet A through Company (this includes Adult class members) are invited to audition. In most cases, dancers need 6 months of classes at Valley Dance Theatre to be considered for the cast.

 

In May the School of the Valley Dance Theatre presents a Showcase. The purpose of this Showcase is to offer our students an opportunity to perform and demonstrate their new skills for family members and friends.

 

June is the time for Valley Dance Theatre’s Spring production. This production offers a number of different pieces and showcases the work of talented local choreographers.

 

Do you offer private lessons?

Several of our instructors offer private lessons. Please contact the office for information and scheduling.
